I’m a Sell-Out

I’m ashamed of myself. Here awhile back, I did a blog post on all of the things I’m boycotting because I hate their commercials so much. Axe deodorant and body spray was on that list. If you’ve seen the commercials, you probably know why.

Anyway, I’m ashamed of myself. I’m a hypocrite. I’m a liar. I’m a fraud. I’m definitely a sell-out (though I guess calling myself a hypocrite maybe covered that one). I bought some Axe Body Spray the other day. I was going to a job interview, and I’d eaten at a barbeque restaurant before going to it and realized that I smelled of smoke, and so I needed something to cover that smell, and Axe was on sale that day at Wal-Mart. That’s the story.

But here’s the worst part: I really like the stuff.

Or here’s the worser part, I think I’ll probably keep buying it for a while. (If you see me any time soon, please insult me for my own good.)

I’ll keep you updated on if any women throw themselves at me. So far, none yet, but I think Axe probably needs a little time to saturate into my skin and cover over the natural people-repellent that I come with.

(I did get the job offer, though. Three women on the hiring panel….)

This article disgusted me like no article has recently. How do you possibly argue against a commencement speech that encourages service to the community?

Please help me to hate it.

(This is going to be quite a political season.)
