Misery Loves Company

Is it any wonder that I'm such a Cubs fan?

Check this article out about ol' Bill Buckner. It wasn't the Curse of the Bambino, after all. It was the goat curse.

Tomorrow, after my Greek midterm, I think I may actually write a post. I've had one or two planned.

For now, though, here's an article worth reading. This Kuo guy has some interesting things to say. I saw him on 60 Minutes, and he struck me as being very sincere.

Here's another really sad story that struck me today.

It (you know what it is) continues...

Today was my classes' day to go to the library. The librarian lady was going to show them through the online databases so that they could do the research for their papers later on. It seems like I've sat through a hundred of these, and they're all just about the same. One of two things happens (if not both of them). Either it's so boring that nobody pays any attention, or the internet shuts down entirely and they can't even complete the presentation. I figured that with my luck it would be the second of these options.

I was right. The librarian started the presentation, and the internet messed up.

Librarian: "I've been through so many of these presentations this year, and none of them have messed up. I thought I might actually make it the whole semester."

Me: "Well, as I've told my class several times, I live under a curse, and this was most likely to happen with me in here."

Everyone but me: (moderate laughter)

Librarian: (still laughing) "Is this a curse that affects technology?"

Me: "No, it affects life."

Everyone but me: (much laughter)

I'm about to turn twenty-four, and I'm continually amazed that I've made it this far.

Tonight, me and Kalyn went to Wal-Mart. I was driving, and I got all the way around ACU, about at its entrance, and I realized that I had left my wallet back at the apartment. Money is necessary for shopping, as you know, so I turned around to go and get it.

Kalyn spent the way back making fun of me, which was especially funny, we both knew, since she's just as bad as me about forgetting stuff. We went on sarcastically though, she mockingly angry at me.

Kalyn: "I would never forget my money. You shouldn't be so inconsiderate."

Me: "Please forgive me. If you can, just try to imagine what an unfortunate life it is be like to be somebody of such low intellect as I am."

I ran into my apartment and got my wallet. When I got out to the car, Kalyn had something to say.

"Uhm Bro. I don't seem to have my money either."

So, we drove to her apartment, and Kalyn ran in and got her money, and then we went to the store.

We survived the trip and made it back alive.

(Though I do seem to have forgotten to put away the groceries.)

I like water.

Today in Bible class, the teacher was working through the hundred and fifth Psalm, and he was trying to include everybody in the discussion. So he asked the class (which is made up primarily of people from 40-60 years old) to name some blessings that we have in our lives.

One fellow (a former professor of mine) raised his hand, and he said something like the following, "This morning I was thinking about water. I was washing my hands, and I turned on the tap, and I just stood there amazed at the water. There are so many people in so many countries that do not have water, and if they do have it, they cannot be assured that it is clean and they may not necessarily have the means to get it. And here I had clean water coming out of the tap."

I found it difficult to feel distressed (about school and the future, etc.) after hearing that.
